Bringing Chicago to the People
Old Man PAH heads to the Midwest to the windy city of Chicago, where we will present a full-scale PAH-FEST (March 22-30), working in association with Columbia College and IFP Chicago. Columbia will serve as the host venue. We expect the windy city to blow us away with great stories from such a diverse and international community of Chicagoans. If you have a story related to yourself and your community, submit your idea now. PAH-FEST will provide ceverything--coaches, equipment and even meals--to help make your short film. You also get a chance to win cash prizes!
This new media film making festival will include Mobiflicks, Cellphone Art, Circus Vision, and DigiPortraits. We have limited space for our digital filmmaking contest, so please sign up in advance.
The week-long festival will take place at Columbia College. Submit your story idea for Mobiflicks or join us for any of the exciting events, which will all be posted soon.
LOCAL PAH-FEST:CHICAGO COORDINATOR
Jane Canepa
Jane Canepa is the president and founder of The Eventors, Inc. (founded in 1976). The company is a Chicago-based special event, public relations and marketing company with a solid base in special events. Ms. Canepa began her career in Chicago at Carson Pirie Scott & Co. where she coordinated international special events and public relations for the flagship State Street store and 16 suburban branch locations. The Eventors have had international and national clients including a woolen manufacturer based in Reykjavik, Iceland. Ms. Canepa is known for her promotion of participatory sporting events in Chicago and for many held across the United States. She promoted a women's marathon in Paris, France for Avon International and held a twenty-year public relations relationship with the largest corporate road race series, the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge. Clients have included all aspects of the marketing spectrum from: arts, community/cultural, corporate, credit unions, entertainment, film, healthcare, government, retail, sports and not-for-profit groups. Ms. Canepa is active in the amateur sports arena in Chicago, working closely with the Mayor's Office of Special Events and the Chicago Park District. She also headed the MOSE Amateur Sports Council and been active in this area since 1976.
Ms. Canepa begins her 17th year at Columbia College in 2008. The class is in the Marketing Communication Department and is the all-time department leader in requests by students to participate. As part of the course syllabus, students must actively participate in three special events during the semester. Ms. Canepa is a published author of "The Canepa School of Dance", a history book from Arcadia Publishing - www.dancingcanepas.com. Ms. Canepa is the former president of the Publicity Club of Chicago and a lifetime member. She orchestrated the 60th Anniversary of the Club in 2000 and was the chairman of the Annual Golden Trumpet Awards Program that honors the "best campaigns for PR professionals" - www.publicity.org
Mobiflicks Competition
Do you have a story idea that would make a great short film? One with local flair and a regional interest? Submit it to the Mobiflicks Competition, and if your story is chosen, you and your team will be invited to PAH-FEST to make your 6 minute movie during the festival.
Cellphone Art
Shoot a one minute piece of video using a video-enabled cellphone or one provided. A surprise topic will be given before the contest and the contestants will have just a few hours to create their piece.
DigiPortraits
This contest will feature a short video portrait of you or another person. B.Y.O.G. (Bring Your Own Gear) or use equipment we provide for you — including an Adobe editing system.
Circus Vision
A new concept for PAH. At the upcoming PAH-FEST:Hollywood, kids 14 and under will be able to participate in a smart phone visual treasure hunt and win a prize for themselves and their schools.
